Pricing reflects new transformer market quotes across the brands we supply in 2024-26. Lower end = cost-tier brands and standard accessories; upper end = premium brands (BHEL, ABB) with full accessory pack. Final quote depends on vector group, tap changer (OLTC vs OCTC), cooling type (ONAN/ONAF), and site-specific accessories. For very large units (above 5 MVA) or 66 kV+ class, custom build typically required - timeline 16-24 weeks.

BHEL
Premium PSU
PSU buyer preference. Longer lead times (12-20 weeks) but stamped quality. Required for some government tenders. Higher capex but very strong residual value.
Voltamp
Mid
Strong distribution transformer specialist. Good value in 250-1000 kVA range. Indian manufacturing, faster lead times.
ABB / Schneider / Siemens
International Premium
Choose when international brand reputation matters (foreign-owned facilities, multinational compliance). Premium pricing, longer lead times, premium-tier service. Required for some BMS/SCADA integrations.
Brand availability and lead time vary. Premium brands (BHEL, ABB, Schneider, Siemens) typically have 12-20 week lead times. CG Power and Voltamp typically 6-12 weeks. Smaller distribution units (under 500 kVA) can sometimes ship from stock.

How to Select the Right Transformer
Five decisions in sequence. Skip any and you risk wrong sizing or non-compliance during DISCOM inspection.
Calculate Total Load
Sum all connected loads with starting current considerations. Add 25-30% margin for future expansion. Use IS 8528 methodology.
Choose Voltage Levels
Primary voltage from utility (11/22/33/66 kV typical). Secondary voltage based on equipment (415V / 240V / specialized).
Decide Oil vs Dry Type
Oil-filled = cheaper, outdoor/non-fire-sensitive sites. Dry type = indoor, hospitals, fire-sensitive, no oil leak risk.
Select Vector Group + Tap Changer
Dyn11 is standard for distribution. OLTC (on-load tap changer) for sites needing voltage adjustment without shutdown. OCTC for standard installations.
Plan Installation
Civil foundation, room ventilation per NBC, lightning arresters, earthing, oil containment pit (for oil-filled). Lead times: 6-20 weeks brand-dependent.

Installation Requirements
What needs to be ready at your site before transformer delivery. Our installation team coordinates with your civil contractor on these items.
Civil
- Foundation: RCC plinth sized per transformer weight (1-10 tonnes range)
- Oil containment pit (for oil-filled units, capacity = 110% of oil volume)
- Room ventilation per NBC 2016 (natural or forced)
- Setbacks from buildings (3-6 m for outdoor oil-filled)
- Crane access for installation + future maintenance
Electrical
- HV cable termination (11/22/33 kV) with cable boxes
- LV bus duct or cable to main panel
- Lightning arresters at HV side
- Earthing - separate transformer body + neutral earthing pits
- Drop-out fuses + LBS at HV side
Compliance
- DISCOM approval for HV connection
- Electrical Inspectorate (CEIG) inspection + clearance
