Emergency pump-down on a live building? Call first, we will dispatch a service van directly.

I'm Here Because...

Pick the scenario closest to yours, jump to what you actually need.

🏗️

New building, need fire NOC

Civil work in progress. Architect or fire consultant has given you pump LPM and head numbers. You need a quoted pump room + commissioning + NOC support.

→ See Capacity Selection & Pricing
🔄

Existing pump AMC due for renewal

Outgoing AMC vendor unreliable. You want a transparent AMC scope (monthly run test, half-yearly performance test, parts policy).

→ See AMC Service Schedule
🚨

Pump won't start during test

Engine cranks but doesn't fire, or starts but loses pressure. Inspection is due. You need emergency diagnosis + repair.

→ See Emergency Response SLA
⬆️

Adding sprinkler or extending hydrant

Building expansion or new floor. Existing pump may not have enough head/flow. You need a hydraulic recalc and possibly a higher-capacity pump set.

→ See Set Configuration Guide
🔧

Old diesel pump engine needs overhaul

Engine smokes, fails to develop rated RPM, or fuel consumption spiked. You need engine rebuild rather than a full pump replacement.

→ Engine Repair Service
📋

Insurance / TAC audit coming up

Insurer or TAC surveyor visit scheduled. You need annual performance test certificate, pump curve verification and compliance report.

→ See Compliance & Certification

Fire Pump Set Configuration (What You Are Actually Buying)

NBC 2016 and IS 15105 require a 3-pump configuration for most commercial and industrial buildings. Most cost overruns happen when buyers think they need a single pump and discover the standby and jockey requirement at the inspection stage.

1. Main Diesel Pump (Engine-Driven)

Primary pump. Must be diesel engine-driven per NBC for fire-rated buildings (does not depend on grid power). Sized to deliver full design flow at design head when hydrant or sprinkler valve opens.

  • • Capacity: 100% of design demand
  • • Typical: 1620 / 2280 / 4500 LPM @ 70-88 m
  • • Engine: 25-200+ HP, naturally aspirated or turbo
  • • Auto-start on pressure drop / manual override
2. Standby Electric Pump

Backup pump on grid power. Auto-starts only if the diesel pump fails or pressure drops below the diesel start setting. Same capacity as the main pump for redundancy.

  • • Capacity: 100% of design demand (matches main)
  • • Drive: 3-phase induction motor + DOL or star-delta starter
  • • Cable, panel and earthing must be fire-survival rated
  • • Auto-changeover logic via fire pump controller
3. Jockey Pump

Small pump (typically 180 LPM @ same head) that maintains static pressure in the network. Compensates for tiny leaks so the main pumps don't cycle on every minor drop.

  • • Capacity: ~10% of main pump flow
  • • Drive: small electric motor (2-5 HP typical)
  • • Auto-stops once line pressure restored
  • • Saves main pump engine starts (extends life)

Plus the supporting hardware: fire pump controller panel (separate for diesel and electric), pressure switches, batteries (lead-acid set, charger), exhaust silencer, fuel day tank (capacity = 6 hr full-load run minimum), suction strainer, foot valve, NRV, sluice valves, casing relief valve, test header, and pressure gauges. A complete compliant fire pump room is a system, not a single pump.

*Complete set range bundles main + standby + jockey + 2 controller panels + day tank + suction/delivery valves + commissioning. Excludes: civil pump room, underground/overhead water tank, hydrant/sprinkler piping, fire NOC fee, GST.

What moves the price most: (1) engine brand (Cummins/Kirloskar/Greaves), (2) panel grade (BIS-licensed UL-listed vs. local assembly), (3) flange material and pump body (CI vs. SS), (4) cable run length to the panel room, (5) location (high-rise rooftop installation costs significantly more than ground floor).

Fire Pump AMC: What Actually Happens On Each Visit

Per IS 15105 + insurer best-practice. Most pump failures at the audit are preventable with this schedule.

FrequencyWhat Gets DoneWhy It Matters
Weekly (client-side log)Visual check: battery voltage, fuel level, oil level, pressure gauge, panel indications.Catches obvious failures before they become unrecoverable.
MonthlyEngine no-flow run for 10-15 min, jockey pump cut-in/out test, battery specific gravity, fuel sample.Verifies engine starts on demand - the single most common audit failure point.
QuarterlyFull flow test through test header, pump curve verification at 3 points (0%, 100%, 150% rated flow), suction strainer clean, all valves operated.Confirms pump still meets design head and capacity. Documented for insurer.
Half-YearlyEngine oil change, fuel filter, air filter, coolant top-up, V-belts and hoses, controller dry-run on standby battery.Standard wear items. Skipping these is where engines start to smoke or fail to start cold.
AnnualComplete performance test under load, vibration analysis, alignment check, alternator/battery replacement assessment, NOC renewal documentation, certified test report. What the fire department / insurer / TAC surveyor actually asks for. Without this you fail the audit.

Basic AMC

Monthly + quarterly visits. Performance test on request.

Indicative: ₹35-55 K / year per pump set

Standard AMC popular

All visits above + consumables (oil, filters, coolant) + annual certified test report.

Indicative: ₹60-95 K / year per pump set

Comprehensive AMC

Standard + most spare parts + 24/7 emergency call-out included + battery and starter motor coverage.

Indicative: ₹1.1-1.7 L / year per pump set

AMC pricing scales with pump capacity, age, accessibility, and call-out radius. For multi-pump sites we structure consolidated AMC at lower per-pump rates.

State Fire Service Act

Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi each have their own Fire Service Acts that govern NOC, inspection cycles, and authorized vendor lists. We handle the paperwork for all three.

What we document for you (annual NOC pack)

  • • Pump performance test report (3-point curve verification at 0%, 100%, 150%)
  • • Engine no-flow run log (12 monthly entries)
  • • Battery health and electrolyte specific-gravity record
  • • Controller functional test (auto-start, auto-changeover diesel-to-electric)
  • • Hydrant pressure test (5.6 kg/cm² minimum at most remote valve)
  • • Sprinkler flow + pressure test (where applicable)
  • • Spare-parts and consumables replacement log
  • • Vendor sign-off with BIS pump manufacturer's nameplate copy

Engine & Pump Brand Matrix

We are vendor-agnostic on fire pumps. Most projects in NCR end up with one of these engine + pump combinations. Choice depends on your fire consultant's specification and your budget tier.

Brand / OEMBest Used ForStrengthConsider If...
Cummins (Engine)Mid to high-capacity sets, 60-200+ HPPan-India service network, high inspector confidencePMC / consultant has specified Cummins on tender
Greaves (Engine)Entry to mid sets, 25-75 HPLower TCO, local Bhiwadi service depth (we are the authorized dealer)Tight budget, mid-rise residential or small commercial
Kirloskar (Engine)Industrial sets, 75-200+ HPStrong in dedicated industrial fire applications, easy partsTier 2/3 industrial site with limited Cummins reach
Mather + Platt / Kirloskar Brothers / Wilo (Pump)Pump end (any engine)BIS-licensed, certified pump curves, accepted in all NOC submissionsTier-1 spec project, large commercial or industrial
CRI / Lubi / SU Pumps (Pump)Pump end, entry to mid capacityCost-effective with BIS license, fine for residential / small commercialMid-rise residential, small warehouse, value-engineered project

Our recommendation criteria: BIS license on the pump body is mandatory (no exceptions). Engine choice is service-network driven, brand choice on pump is consultant/insurance driven. We will tell you when an off-spec brand could fail your NOC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about fire pump systems, AMC, compliance and NOC

We install the full 3-pump configuration mandated by NBC 2016 / IS 15105: a diesel engine-driven main pump (primary, does not depend on grid power), an electric standby pump (same capacity, auto-changeover), and a small jockey pump (maintains static line pressure). The complete set includes two controller panels, day fuel tank, batteries, suction/delivery valves, NRV, foot valve, casing relief, test header and pressure gauges.

Yes. NBC 2016 (Part 4) governs the overall fire safety design and pump-set configuration; IS 15105:2002 covers hydrant system layout and pump sizing; IS 15871:2008 sets centrifugal fire pump performance and 3-point test requirements (0%, 100%, 150% rated flow). We deliver every set with a BIS-licensed pump body, run the certified performance test, and hand over a full NOC documentation pack. Most projects also reference NFPA 20 for controller and battery sizing.

Indicative ranges for first-cut budgeting (main + standby + jockey + controllers + day tank + commissioning, excluding civil pump room, water tank and piping): Entry set (900-1620 LPM @ 60-70 m): ₹6-9 lakh. Standard (1620 LPM @ 70 m): ₹9-14 lakh. High-rise (2280 LPM @ 88 m): ₹14-22 lakh. Industrial medium (3000 LPM @ 88 m): ₹18-28 lakh. Industrial large or high-risk (4500+ LPM): ₹28-45 lakh. Final pricing depends on engine brand (Cummins/Greaves/Kirloskar), pump brand, panel grade, head, and site accessibility. We send a firm quote after a site visit.

Yes. We run 3 AMC tiers: Basic (~₹35-55 K/year per pump set: monthly + quarterly visits, performance test on request), Standard (~₹60-95 K/year: all visits + consumables + annual certified test report - most popular), Comprehensive (~₹1.1-1.7 L/year: standard scope + most spare parts + 24/7 emergency call-out + battery & starter coverage). Per IS 15105 best practice we run weekly visual checks, monthly engine no-flow runs, quarterly full-flow tests, half-yearly oil/filter changes, and a complete annual performance test with certified report for your NOC and insurer.

Phone triage in 15-30 minutes (about half of breakdowns get resolved on the call - dead battery, blown fuse, closed valve). On-site response under our standard AMC SLA: Zone 1 (RIICO Bhiwadi / Chopanki / Tapukara / Khushkhera) 2-4 hours, Zone 2 (Neemrana / Bawal / Dharuhera / Manesar) 4-6 hours, Zone 3 (Gurugram / Faridabad / Noida / Delhi) 6-10 hours, Zone 4 (rest of Rajasthan / Haryana / Western UP) 12-24 hours. Mobile service vans carry batteries, fuel-system spares and pressure switches so 70%+ of issues close on the first visit.

Yes - this is a large share of our work. We start with a hydraulic recalculation (flow + head at the most remote outlet), assess whether the existing pump room civil and tank capacity can be reused, and only replace pumps where the curve cannot meet the new design. Common retrofit scenarios: adding a sprinkler system to a hydrant-only building, extending hydrant to a new wing, replacing an over-aged engine, or upgrading the controller panel for NFPA 20 compliance. We coordinate around your operations so production downtime is minimised.

Our annual NOC pack includes: pump performance test report with 3-point curve verification (0%, 100%, 150% of rated flow), 12-month engine no-flow run log, battery health and electrolyte specific-gravity record, controller functional test (auto-start + diesel-to-electric auto-changeover), hydrant pressure test (5.6 kg/cm² minimum at the most remote valve), sprinkler flow + pressure test (where applicable), spare-parts and consumables replacement log, and vendor sign-off with the BIS pump nameplate copy. This pack is what the fire department, insurer and TAC surveyor actually ask for.

Engines: Cummins (mid to large sets, pan-India service, often consultant-specified), Greaves (entry to mid, lower TCO, we are the authorized Bhiwadi dealer with strong local service depth), Kirloskar (industrial sets, easy parts in tier-2/3 areas). Pumps: Mather + Platt / Kirloskar Brothers / Wilo for tier-1 spec projects; CRI / Lubi / SU for cost-effective entry to mid-capacity. Rule of thumb: BIS license on the pump body is non-negotiable, engine choice is driven by service-network reach, pump brand is driven by consultant or insurance spec. We tell you upfront when a brand choice could fail your NOC.
